So your window cleaner has been and gone, and your windows are now sparkling and gleaming on the outside, but what about the inside? If they are looking a bit grimy, and you can see fingerprints all over them when the sun shines, they are definitely in need of a bit of TLC!
Here are Perfectshine’s 7 steps for achieving pristine windows inside, as well as out:
- Prepare like a professional
Collect your kit of equipment before you get started. This should include a large bowl, cleaning solution, cleaning cloth, soft cotton cloth, towels and cotton swabs/soft toothbrush.
- Prevent spills and damage
Lay towels on the windowsills in case of drips and spillages. This is particularly important if your windowsills are wooden, as damage could be caused.
- Clean the glass
Dip your cloth into your cleaning solution, and start cleaning. We recommend using a high quality product to ensure the best finish – we use ‘Krystal Clear’ solution. If the surface is large, you would be better spraying the solution onto the window with a spray bottle.
- Rub in circular motions
When rubbing the glass, do so in circular motions to remove all marks. Then wipe with vertical strokes, followed by horizontal strokes, to ensure you’ve wiped all areas and you leave no streaks!
- Clean the edges
For the ultimate clean, take your cotton bud or soft toothbrush, dip it in the solution and use it to clean the inside edges of the windows. This is much more effective than using your cloth.
- Dry the edges
Take a towel and dry around each edge, mopping up all excess moisture.
- Polish away the final blemishes
To finish off, take your dry soft cloth (not the one used to clean the windows) and polish the glass. Make sure to look at the windows from different angles to ensure there are no smudges or streaks. This will give you a perfectly shining end result!
